The removal of soil cores from sampling tubes must be done with maximum care and minimum of disturbance, particularly when smaller specimens have to be prepared from a larger sample in order to carry-out strength tests. Large extrusion forces used indiscriminately, will compress soil, resulting in false values of shear strength and consolidation. The extruders are for use as per Indian Standards, ASTM, and various other Standards. They range from a simple hydraulic extruder to the universal extruder, which can extract samples of size 150 mm. diameter x 450 mm. long.
