Computerised Engine Test Rig
The engine test rig is designed for studying the engine performance under different load conditions.The set up consisting of a 4 stroke single cylinder Diesel engine connected to an AC generator, resistance bank load with suitable sensors for measuring combustion pressure, crank angle, speed, airflow, and fuel flow, temperatures, & Load.The signals are conditioned and interfaced to the computer for plotting PV diagram, data acquisition, Printing and to calculate the efficiencies under various load condition.

Engine : Brand New Kirloskar, 4 Stroke single Cylinder vertical water cooled 5 HP, 1500 RPM diesel engine.

Loading Device : Electrical load Kirloskar AC Generator 3.7 KW 1, 500 RPM, SELF excited, with resistance Bank loading. Both machines on sturdy channel frame.

Load measurement : Current sensor & Voltage sensor.

Pressure measurement : Using a piezo electric pickup suitable for combustion pressure measurement.

Crank angle/speed measurement : using optical shaft encoder with one degree resolution with TDC marker pulse.

Air Intake measurement : Using a turbine type flow meter
